Durango came to us from a shelter where he sat as stray hoping his family would come looking for him. Durango would benefit from training, which will not only help with his manners but also create a bond with his new family. If you are interested meeting this handsome boy please let our adoptions coordinators know.
Updates:- <p>I am a lonely dog who just wants companionship and love. I am currently learning my crate manners, I still do not like it but its getting better! If I am separated from people I get anxious but my foster is building my confidence up so I can be both social and independent. I really like toys and if you actively play with me I'll focus only on you. I know my home now is temporary, but I'd really like Furever home, will you be my adopters?!</p>

Sally was a stray and ended up in a shelter. She is an adorable Shepherd mix that would enjoy a forever family of her very own. She did well during her cat and dog test. We believe she should do well with children, but she has not met any while in our care. Training to teach her manners is of course needed as it is with all of our dogs. Training also helps to create a bond with her new family.

Boone cannot be any cuter and is absolutely a great little boy, happy go lucky and loves to give puppy kisses. Boone has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Boone will become even more of an amazing boy than he already is. Please inquire if Boone sounds like a good match for your family.

We have no idea how this sweet girl ended up in a shelter with no one looking for her. She is an absolute doll. She is understandably a little unsure with all of the changes in her life, but once in a foster home she is feeling safe. Belly rubs are favorite, you can never give too many. Duchess is hoping to find a family that will love and commit to her for her lifetime.
Updates:- <p>Duchess has settled in very nicely in her foster home with an alpha male GSD and another female GSD. Duchess is a complete cuddle doll. Her fosters report that Duchess is a perfect house guest and pretty good on a leash. Duchess is submissive and plays with the alpha male and they love it. Duchess is great with kids of all ages. Her foster says she's the sweetest foster they've ever had. While in the foster home, Duchess did Ok with the cats, but liked to chase them, however, she responded pretty well to correction. Don't miss out on meeting Duchess!</p>

George lived on a farm with livestock which was not the life for George. He lived with other dogs and indoor cats but George was too focused on the livestock, going after them any chance he had. George is a friendly big boy with those he meets, he enjoys swimming and going for walks. He often frequented his local home improvement store with his family. He does get excited when meeting new dogs, a slow proper introduction is needed. George is now looking for a home that he does not have to share with livestock, they are just too tempting for him.

Oscar is the litter mate to Sargeant. He was purchased from the breeder when he was 8 weeks old. His former person has kept outside 24/7. He is a friendly boy, but is lacking in manners as he has had no guidance from his humans. Thankfully we were able to rescue Oscar from living outside with no human interaction. Oscar will need a family who has the patience to deal with a 1 year old puppy who is a blank slate. He will require a commitment from his family to take him to training and guide him to be the best he can be. He has so much to learn, but with the smarts of a GSD he should catch on in no time.

Pepper made her way to us from a shelter. We received the plea to help this very sweet girl as she was heartworm positive and needed medical attention. Pepper has completed her heartworm treatment and is now ready to meet all those interested in giving her a forever home. She is a sweet girl, very well mannered and loves to play with other dogs. Please consider Pepper for your family.

Jasper, along with his brothers, Herb and Malakai, were farm dogs, living outside free to roam where ever they wanted to. Often times they ate trash and anything else they could find.

Meet the very handsome Gunnar. Sadly Gunnar's family who love him dearly had to surrender him to us, not a decision they made lightly. Gunnar has been part of their family for 3 years, was a big part in their 3 young children's lives and a buddy to their older 3 legged male GSD.
Unexpectedly one day Gunnar decided to challenge the older GSD for the alpha position, which did not go over well. The family was faced with the difficult decision of how they were going to keep both boys safe. Having the dogs live separately in the same home, they were not able to provide enough quality time for them both. The very hard decision was made to rehome Gunnar.
As you can imagine Gunnar is somewhat confused at this time. He obviously is unsure of his new surroundings and the new people caring for him. It takes a little time for him to relax with new people, but once he feels safe he happily joins our volunteers for walks and some loving. He is very typical of the breed in that he wants to protect his family and home from strangers. Given proper introductions and some tasty treats he quickly welcomes people into his space. Gunnar is going to need patience as he adjusts to his new life. Training with Gunnar will help this along as well as create a nice bond with his new family.
Updates:- <p>Gunnar is settling in nicely in his foster home with his fur-sibling and several young children. He is absolutely wonderful with the children and just wants to be loved. Gunnar also met a cat during his Thanksgiving travels and was good with the cat inside, but decided he wanted to chase the cat outside, so adopters should be aware of his interest to chase while outside. If Gunnar sounds like he would be a good fit for your family, please ask to meet him.</p>

Shiloh was returned to us as his family is going through life altering changes and can no longer provide for him as needed. However, he was very much loved by them and he was very attached to them. Upon Shiloh's return, he showed signs of being reactive to strangers and protective of his family. He was also reactive to other dogs. However, he was very friendly, comfortable with and trusting of his family and their bond was evident. He is currently with a reputable trainer so that he can become better socialized and we will provide further updates as we get them from the trainer.

I've been adopted, thanks to MAGSR, but so many more dogs need their help. Will you help them by donating or volunteering?
Meet our new boy, Myles! He found himself without a home through no fault of his own due to a crisis in his family. He was not taken care of and appears to have been mistreated as well. Now that he is with us, he is now finding out what it is like to be cared for and to receive affection. He is standoffish when first meeting new people as he seems to not have had a lot of socialization with strangers. But he warms up if you go slow with the introduction. He has quickly bonded to those who are working with him. Today he was enjoying himself with the volunteers that he is most bonded to. He went on a nice walk, is taking treats gently, was playing with a new ball and was lying in the warm sun and receive belly scratches. In return, he was giving kisses and we couldn't have asked for a better behaved boy, especially after all of what he has been through.
Myles is also being socialized with other dogs and he is doing very well with this. Although, he likes to take things slow with the other dogs he meets and does not like a dog to get in his face too quickly. He rides very well in a vehicle and really likes to go exploring and experiencing new things.
Myles would benefit from being in a home with experienced, confident, consistent, knowledgeable people who understand how to properly socialize dogs. What he needs right now is consistency, leadership and to be loved; all of which will help him understand that he will never be hurt by anyone ever again. He would be an excellent candidate to attend group dog training classes as this will only help with his socialization.
We know Myles is a strikingly handsome boy. But what is more important is that people see him for the dog that he is and not only his handsome looks.

Updates:- <p>Myles has really come out of his shell!</p> <p>Now that he has a consistent routine in his care and handling, he's learned that people are good and he shows his affection to those he is most bonded to. We are continuing to socialize him with new people and dogs.</p> <p>His introductions to new people still need to be done properly. But he is very social with other dogs and it seems he may favor dogs that are smaller than him. He would benefit from being in a home with a well balanced, social dog.</p>

Beautiful Carly found herself at a shelter looking for a new family when her previous family dropped her off there as she was chasing the cattle. So as you can see Carly will need a cow free home. She will also need a home where she is the only dog, as she prefers all of the attention and love for herself. She is a sweet, friendly girl who would love to once again be in a home.
Updates:- <p>Carly is a beautiful, sweet and intelligent girl. She loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back every time you throw it. She doesn’t like small dogs but has gotten along with dogs her own size. But she is definitely the alpha and does play rough; therefore she would probably do best in a home where she is the only dog. Carly has been going thru training and is doing awesome with basic obedience commands. She loves children and is very loyal to her people. She likes to snuggle and be with her people at all times. Carly would love to be part of your family. Please ask to meet her, you will not be disappointed. She is a true love bug!</p>

Calibur is looking for a new home and family as his previous family had no time to properly care for him. He is underweight and has flea dermatitis but with good nutrition and proper care he will be in tip top shape in no time. He lived in his previous home with young children. We have no knowledge how he does with cats. He is in need of training, this will teach him proper leash skills and good canine manners. Calibur is a friendly boy and would love to be in a home with his new family....could that be you?

Bronco has not had a very good life. He has lived his life on a chain with his companion a Cocker Spaniel. They were not well cared for, never shown the love of humans, proper care or the comforts of a home. Brunco is a sweet, friendly and affectionate boy looking for a family who will show him that humans are good. He can become overly excited when playing and will be mouthy, this is why we recommend older children. He does take correction well. He will need a family with patience as he has so much too learn about being a good houseguest and proper dog manners. He has what it takes, he just needs a person to commit to his training.
Updates:- <p>When Bronco arrived in our care we noticed he was favoring his leg and not using it that often. We had him seen by a specialist and it was discovered that he had a dislocated knee and on the same leg his hip was bad. Surgery was recommended to repair both. Bronco underwent surgery for his knee and hip on Thursday 6/28/16. He is now recovering in a foster home on strict crate rest in order for everything to heal. Bronco quickly stole the hearts of his Doctors and caregivers at the hospital. He is such a gentle soul, happy to meet anyone greeting them with tail wags. He rides well in a car, takes treats gently and loves to be pet. Ask to meet this very special boy.</p>
- <p>Bronco is doing very well in his recovery from his hip and knee surgery. While he may be getting a little stir crazy, he is doing very well in the crate and just happy to be inside. Bronco is a big boy who loves to give kisses and get belly rubs. He also loves being around his foster fur-brother who calms him. He's very interested in everything and anything in the house - everything is new and exciting to him, that he just needs to check it out. If Bronco sounds like a good fit for your family, please ask to meet him. Bronco's surgery was very expensive for MAGSR - please help MAGSR afford the surgery so that we can continue to help other dogs in need like Bronco. Your donations are badly needed.</p>
- <p>Bronco has moved on to the next phase of his recovery - physical therapy. Bronco is undergoing a very intense, 3 month, physical therapy rehabilitation program including shockwave therapy sessions to break up scar tissue and water therapy. His foster mom does various exercises with him multiple times through the day and night in between. While his recovery is going well, Bronco still has a lot of work to do over the next 3 months. MAGSR will continue to fund Bronco's rehabilitation, but could really use some help - the surgery and rehab is costing several thousands of dollars. Donations are desperately needed to help cover his medical costs, as well as other dogs in need of medical care. Your donations allow us to continue to provide the medical care needed for other dogs such as Bronco. Kerouac was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. It is obvious by his weight and skin condition that he has either been on the run for a while or not well cared for in his previous home. He currently weighs 84 lbs but should weigh closer to a 100 lbs, nothing that regular, good nutritional meals wouldn't take care of. He also was covered with fleas which caused flea dermatitis, he is now flea free and his skin is on the mend. Kerouac Is a very sweet, laid back boy who loves people. He bonds quickly. He is indifferent to other dogs, so he can live with or without other dogs in his new home. This gentle soul is now ready to start life anew, please consider Kerouac when asking to meet our dogs.

Cinder was surrendered due to circumstances beyond her control. She is a beautiful, high energy girl that is continued training. She successfully completed training with Off Leash K-9 but unfortunately her continued training and practice was not kept up. Cinder is no couch potato, she is highly active and will require a family who can keep up with her and direct her energy. She did live with smaller dogs which she did fine with unless their was a bone involved. She does not like to be bothered when she has her bone. There was no problems with food. Cinder is not a dog for first time Shepherd owners and will require a family with experience with working line dogs. Daily activity is a must as is ongoing training. She would do well in agility or another type of job based activity like nose work. A tired dog is a good dog.

Cherokee was an owner surrender, moving onto a better life with a loving family. She lived in her previous home with a number of dogs of varying breeds and sizes. She was not getting the attention she deserved, has had no guidance, training or a pack leader. She is a blank slate, but eager to learn. She has no leash manners and will jump on people for attention. Her new family will need to commit to training, guidance and consistency as Cherokee transitions into her new life and into adulthood.
Updates:- <p>Cherokee is a sweet, intelligent, curious, alert dog who loves to play. She is learning to walk on a leash politely, and has settled in to her foster home and routine. She has learned about horses, and seems fine with them. She loves to play with a jolly ball toy, which she chases, chews, carries, retrieves, and generally adores. She is doing well with sit (her foster keeps little treats in her pockets at all times), and will sit now to get her collar and leash on in the morning. Housebreaking is coming along quite well, and she has been perfect since those initial few anxious days in a new environment. She has explored all areas of the farm, and helps with chores such as going into hay loft to toss hay down to the horses, and walks in the back field to check on the bees. Cherokee is going to be the dog of a lifetime for the right family - she is loving, and wants so much to be part of a family. Children recently visited the farm, and except for wanting to jump up (a habit we are working on breaking her of), she loved meeting and playing with the kids. Ask to meet Cherokee if she sounds like a good fit for your family.</p>

Updates:- <p>Cali is a little ball of puppy energy. She's pretty fearless and loves to play until she drops! She has even learned to bark. She likes to be near people and will happily play by herself as long as you're close by. She can get a bit overtired so her foster parents have found that when she acts cranky, they just put her in the crate and she might protest for a minute but then goes to sleep.</p>

Louisa loves to play for 10 minutes, then sit staring at her human for 30 minutes. She will snuggle for a few minutes and then get bored, walking off to sleep on her own. Updates:- <p>Tucky is very chill and calm. He likes to cuddle, take a nap, play for a bit, then take a nap again. He's a little more apprehensive in new situations, preferring to follow his sister's lead, but once he's comfortable, you see he is pretty playful. His foster parents believe he will crate train well because he loves crawling under things and sleeping.</p>

Flo cannot be any cuter and is absolutely a great little girl, happy go lucky and loves to give puppy kisses. Flo has a lot to learn about going a good canine citizen and will require training. Please remember that puppies are a lot of work and require a lot of attention from their family - puppies are a ten to twelve year commitment. Puppies are full of energy and can be mischievous – they will whine, have accidents, get into things, and chew on inappropriate things. With time, patience, guidance and training, Flo will become even more of an amazing girl than she already is. Please inquire if Flo sounds like a good match for your family. Updates:- <p>Flo is very outgoing and loves to play. She loves to horse around with her sister, Louisa, and does the things that puppies like to do. Kylie is a beautiful,very high-energy girl. Kylie can be mouthy when playing and will need some training, but she is precious and has a ton of potential. Kylie is no couch potato and will require daily physical and mental exercise to keep her energy in check. Her ball is her favorite thing, up for hours of fetch? Kylie is. If you feel you can commit to Kylie and give her the training she needs, and feel she may be a good fit in your family, please ask to meet her.

Baxter along with his sister Bailey found themselves at a shelter after they kept escaping an electric/invisible fence and chasing the cattle. Hmmm, imagine that they are herding dogs after all. They are obviously smart and knew what they were born to do. They are very bonded so we are hoping that a family will have enough room and love to adopt them together. They did well with children they met, but would prefer not to share their home or people with cats. They are a very sweet pair.

Maxx had a family of his own since he was a puppy, sadly his family decided to get a new puppy. Well that was the end of Maxx as they devoted their time to the puppy and dumped Maxx. He did not deserve to be tossed aside or replaced by a puppy.
Maxx is now looking for a family who will love and cherish him for the rest of his life. Maxx is pretty much a blank slate, not having had much in the way of training, structure or guidance. He is a smart boy and willing to learn if someone is willing to take the time to teach him. For your time and patience Maxx will reward you with a lifetime of devotion.

Hugo was surrendered to us as his family felt their home was too small for him and they also did not like his shedding around their child. When one gets a GSD they need to realize that they are big dogs and they shed a lot. Hugo now is looking for a family who appreciates the breed regardless of their size and shedding. Sadly sweet Hugo tested heartworm positive, he obviously was not kept on monthly Heartworms Preventatives which would have protected him. He will need to undergo treatment to rid his body of Heartworms so that he may enjoy many more years of life. Treatment is expensive but Hugo is so worth the cost.
Donations towards his treatment would be greatly appreciated, this would also help us save other dogs with medical needs.

Claire found herself at a shelter where space was limited so her time was running out. While at the shelter she was cat tested and did fine with them. Claire is a sweet girl who enjoys cuddles from her people. She needs to brush up on her manners, leash skills and not jumping up on people will be mastered during training classes.

She is an adorable Shepherd mix that would enjoy a forever family of her very own. She did well during her cat and dog test. We believe she should do well with children, but she has not met any while in our care. Training to teach her manners is of course needed as it is with all of our dogs. Training also helps to create a bond with her new family.

Chauncey is a 7 month old, full of energy boy that is in need of guidance, training and boundaries. He is coming of the age where he is testing the waters to see how much he can get away with. He requires socialization with new people as he will be protective of his family. He needs to learn that his person has control of situations and that he can relax and let down his guard. A happy dog is well exercised dog, both physically and mentally. Lots of games, walks, runs and working on his training will help Chauncey with his energy. Chauncey is not for first time dog families, he is best suited for an experienced family who has the time, patience and commitment to help Chauncey be a well mannered canine citizen.
